Hello everyone!
My name is Brayden. This is my sign name.
I am Deaf-Disabled. I will host an educational event.
My name is Megan, GVAD President. I am here to support Brayden.
What happens during this event?
We have three different sections! The educational event is connected to Deaf-Disabled mental health. We invite everyone to come. Members of the Deaf community: Deaf, Hard of Hearing, DeafBlind, Deaf-Disabled, and signing hearing people. Everyone is welcome here.

I will explain the first section now. The second and third sections will come later, after the first part. First section now.
I will set up the plan for the first section. We will watch a movie! This is a documentary film. This movie is connected with history. It happened in the past. Institutions.
Before, disabled people were locked in institutions. People were locked away, divided, and excluded. They were segregated and left without community. In these institutions, people suffered from abuse.
During this event, we will learn about this topic and expand our understanding of Disabled people history.
Warning: watching this movie may be a heavy experience. The information can be triggering, but it is still an enriching experience. You will learn a lot. You will understand and learn many things about Deaf-Disabled people and also about hearing people with disabilities.
We will go through this history: how it is connected, and how things changed.
You may be shocked. You will notice and analyze how you can change yourself and your values, how to support, and how you treat Deaf-Disabled people in the Deaf community.
How can we make Deaf-Disabled people equally invited into the community? This movie will help you understand this topic.
