About GVAD

Greater Vancouver Association of the Deaf (GVAD)

The Greater Vancouver Association of the Deaf (GVAD) is a non-profit, Deaf-led organization dedicated to supporting and empowering the Deaf, Deafblind, Deaf Plus, Hard of Hearing, and late-deafened communities throughout the Greater Vancouver region and across British Columbia.

Founded in 1926, GVAD is one of the oldest Deaf organizations in Canada and continues to be a vital hub for community connection, cultural celebration, advocacy, and education.

We believe in “By the Deaf, For the Deaf” — ensuring that all of our programs, decisions, and events are led by Deaf individuals and reflect the needs and voices of our diverse community.
